About Us
Scootling's story
"I've lost count of how many times people have said to me that scootering is a fad. We incorporated in 2003. It has become pretty clear to me since then that losing time in traffic, and putting money into parking machines was the real fad. You, our customers, have always known that scooters gift you back so much time in your day, money in your pocket, and freedom in your city movement. We're happy to be along for the ride.
Thanks must be given for the big helping hands along the way from friends and family in the early days, the NZ media who loved the idea of our independent scooter shop and of course you, our customers every single day."

Scootling physical and online stores
Uniquely conceived with retro appeal, the first Scootling store was a tiny 33 square metre affair in the cultural hotpot of Grey Lynn, in 2006. We launched the first online shop the following year - the first dedicated scooter parts and accessories online shop in NZ.
We still stick to the same intention: to offer our savvy customers high quality, top value scooter parts and accessories.
With the latest website relaunch in 2024, Scootling offers a secure, easy-to-use hub for all things scooter. The new online shop is proudly offered after a complete overhaul and a big project checking product fitments, technical specs, manufacturer info and adding professional images.
Scootling History
Scootling's dynamic history has seen it evolve from a small scooter hire business in 2003 into a multi-faceted leader in the New Zealand motor scooter market.
2003 - The Birth of Scootling: The company's journey began in 2003 when it was founded as a moped/motor scooter hire business. At this stage, Scootling was primarily focused on providing scooters for rent, catering to tourists and locals looking for an efficient and fun way to explore New Zealand's cities and landscapes.
2006 - Expansion into Used Scooter Sales: In just a few short years, Scootling recognised the growing demand for scooters in New Zealand. Consequently, we decided to expand our services and enter the used scooter sales market. This marked a significant turning point for the company, as it began to cater to a broader audience, including individuals looking to purchase their own scooters.
2007 - Adding Honda and Adly Brands: To offer a wider range of options to its customers, Scootling added the reputable Honda and Adly scooter brands to its inventory in 2007. This move to add brand new scooters enhanced our product portfolio, with a selection of well-known and reliable scooter brands.
2009-2010 - Benelli and TGB Dealer: During this period, Scootling expanded its brand offerings even further by becoming a dealer for Benelli and TGB scooters. This diversification allowed us to cater to a wider range of preferences and needs among scooter enthusiasts.
2011 - Piaggio Brand Dealer: Scootling's commitment to providing a comprehensive range of scooter options continued with the addition of Piaggio as a brand dealer from 2011. Piaggio is renowned for its iconic Vespa scooters and other quality models. This partnership bolstered Scootling's reputation as a premier scooter dealer in New Zealand, and it continues today as we provide the outstanding Italjet scooter models.
2011-2014 - Mechanical Parts and Workshop : Beyond sales, Scootling also invested in technical expertise during its tenure as a Piaggio brand dealer. This involvement allowed the company to gain in-depth knowledge of mechanical parts, workshop practices, and technical enhancement, ensuring that customers received top-notch service and support.
2012 - Kymco Brand Dealer: Scootling took on the well-respected and very prolific Taiwanese make Kymco, and built it in to a mainstay of the Auckland scooter market.
2017 - Niu Dealer: In 2017, Scootling expanded its brand offerings yet again by becoming a Niu dealer. Niu is the world's leading smart electric scooter brand known for its innovation and sustainable mobility solutions. By embracing electric scooters, Scootling demonstrated its commitment to environmental responsibility and staying at the forefront of the scooter industry's developments.
2022 - Italjet and PGO Dealer: In 2022 added the Italjet brand and PGO brand to the stable. Italjet has revived the Dragster, with extremely unique detail and styling. PGO presents another opportunity for reliable, high performing Taiwanese scooters to run in the NZ market.
Today, Scootling stands as a testament to the evolution and adaptability of a small scooter hire business into a multifaceted and customer-oriented scooter dealership. With a rich history of brand partnerships, technical expertise, and a commitment to providing a diverse range of scooter options, we are proud to continue as a trusted name in the New Zealand scooter market.
