About the maker:
Originally from Colombia, Ernesto Ovalle is a goldsmith and sculptor with over 25 years experience, learning his craft from his family of jewellers and watchmakers. He has lived in New Zealand for the past sixteen years and currently runs a jewellery practice based at the Bridge Gallery Studio in Auckland Central, to which he commutes every day using his trusty scooter. His enthusiasm for scooters and motorbikes has crossed over into his jewellery practice resulting in ‘The Vespa Line’; a collection of scooter-themed jewellery in cufflinks, keychains and brooches, so that other scooter lovers like himself can feel close to their vehicle, wherever they go!
